Reno is the northern sister city of the well-known gambling and entertainment gateway, Las Vegas. It features its own casinos, entertainment, and exciting nightlife, though nestled in a valley within the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The weather in Reno can get chilly, seeing as it's within the mountain range, but there is very little snow. Average snowfall for a year in Reno is approximately 25 inches, but it's sunny about 300 days of the year. Though hemmed in by mountains, the city is not inaccessible. There is an airport nearby, and for those who prefer the scenic route Amtrak service and Greyhound service is available to Reno as well. Like its sister city, Reno offers glitz and glamour though on a smaller scale than the strip. It's known as America's Adventure Place.
What many don't realize about Reno is that it has a rich arts scene, with many events related to the arts. Artown is an event Reno sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, and it is a celebration of all kinds of art forms. The Nevada Museum of Art is located in Reno and they often feature exhibits from notable artists. Other events in Reno include the annual Great Reno Balloon Race, Street Vibrations, and their Nevada Day celebrations.
No matter what's gong on in Reno, there is sure to be something for everyone.
